In this viral video from China, a worker demonstrates how the yellow helmets given to workers could not even withstand one blow, while the red helmets given to bosses withstood multiple blows without any issues. The helmet was later found to cost as little as one Singapore dollar online.
While it’s easy to blame safety regulations, that’s not the main issue here. China has regulations in place and safety standards for all PPE.
The real issue is a lack of vision.
What is the cost of a helmet if it can save a human life?
What good is penny pinching when it concerns the one thing that stands between a worker and an untimely death?
We live in a realistic world. Sometimes, getting the absolute best PPE for our workers is impossible due to financial or logistical concerns. But that’s no excuse for not trying at all.
